Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first in the third and final ODI against India here on Wednesday. India had already won the first two ODIs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Cummins said he wanted to bat first and put a big score on the board for India to chase.
“We’ve been batting well in this series, so we want to continue that momentum,” he said. “We know India is a strong team, so we’ll need to be at our best to win this game.”
India captain Rohit Sharma said he would have bowled first if he had won the toss.
“We were looking to bowl first and make use of the morning conditions,” he said. “But Australia won the toss and elected to bat, so we’ll have to adjust our plans accordingly.”
The Australian team is unchanged from the second ODI, while India has made one change, with Kuldeep Yadav replacing Ravindra Jadeja.
The match is scheduled to start at 1:30 PM local time.
